Can we talk about the gap between the Pinterest morning routine and the actual morning routine? The one where your alarm goes off and you hit snooze twice and then scroll Instagram for fifteen minutes before you even sit up?
I am not judging. I am describing my own life.
A morning routine that starts with God does not have to be two hours of journaling and a cold plunge at 5am. It can be ten minutes. It just has to be the first thing.
"In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly."Psalm 5:3
Before the phone. Before the group chat. Before you check what anyone else is doing. Give the first minutes of your day to God. That is the whole secret.
Wake up. Do not touch your phone. Get up and make a drink. Sit somewhere quiet for ten minutes. Read one passage. Pray one honest prayer. Write one thing you are grateful for.
That is it. That is the routine. It takes less time than scrolling and it will do more for your day than almost anything else you could do in those ten minutes.
Your anxiety decreases. Not because your circumstances change but because you start your day anchored rather than reactive. You are less pulled by every notification because you have already been with the One who holds your actual life.
Start tomorrow. Not next Monday. Tomorrow.
